If you are planning to travel with young children, it’s always a good thing to be well prepared. Some children may get excited about packing to go on their trip, but they might sometimes need a little supervision in packing the appropriate things.
A parent once experienced an unexpected surprise, regarding a short road trip with her son and daughter. The children were all excited to go, and couldn’t wait to get packed and get in the car. The mother had also reminded her young daughter to be sure to pack her pajamas, robe, slippers, toothpaste, and toothbrush. After having gone on a few trips like this in the past, the daughter was so excited to be packing for herself.
Because it was spring time and quite warm, the daughter was dressed in shorts and a light-weight shirt. But there were colder temperatures at their mountainous destination. As they drove closer to their accommodations, the mother suggested that her daughter put on some warmer clothes. The daughter’s face went pale. She hadn’t packed any other clothes, except for her pajamas, robe, slippers, toothbrush and toothpaste, which she was very proud of doing!
Luckily, there was a big discount store nearby that was having an “end of the season” winter sale. So the daughter got some new clothing items, which fortunately were at a reasonable price. The lesson to learn here, is to supervise or check that children’s needed items are packed.
Also, it’s a great idea to pack things to keep children occupied when traveling. A stuffed animal, games, books, coloring books, and even an iPad or a computer for movies and video games should keep them occupied. One parent told me that she would only bring out one thing at a time and then switch it over to something else every hour or so. Then the child would not get bored.
Having different checklists for packing, depending on the type of travel, and weather at the destination is very convenient and practical. I recommend making checklists especially when traveling with children, so you don’t have to go through the above experience!
If you are traveling with toddlers and infants, please don’t forget the stroller (pram) and car seat!
I have provided links below to help with any clothing items, toys, books, strollers and car seats that you may need for your children’s travel. For an even more specific search, where you are looking for an exact item name and brand, type it into the search box of the page that appears when the link is clicked on, and it will then come up immediately.
