Whether you are looking at a home exchange or even an owner vacation rental, it is “key” to establish good rapport, in locating your ideal place.
You can start communicating through the messaging offered on sites, and getting to know the person. You may ask questions regarding the area, the accommodations, and the dates of your travel, as well as the length of your stay. Most sites show a lot of pictures of the home and area, but if you would like to see more, you can always request them.
To establish a more personal communication, you may exchange email addresses, Skype addresses, or phone numbers. I find it very nice to be able to have a personal conversation, and this builds confidence and trust. It is easy to get a feel for the place and if you would want to stay there, or have the people stay in your home.
Sometimes it doesn’t work out. Maybe dates aren’t suitable or it’s not exactly what you’re looking for. It’s important to be polite throughout all the communication and be honest when it doesn’t suit your needs. Most people will understand, especially if they have had experience with exchanges or renting. A lot of times, you may suggest getting in touch about a future date. But always leave it on a friendly note.
