Why have strangers staying at your home? Economical accommodations are mostly available wherever you want to go. Free accommodations are available through home exchanges!
I thought it would be odd and peculiar to have strangers staying in my house. I also thought it would be weird for me to stay at a stranger’s house. (Could I trust them? Would I like it?) But then again, perhaps these were trustworthy people, who like to travel, have the comfort and convenience of an entire home, without having to pay for expensive or inexpensive hotel rooms, and always having to pay for their meals out. I am one of those people!
There are many other reasons to use home exchanges. They are not only great for vacations, but to visit with friends and relatives. You can use them to go to weddings, big birthday parties, special anniversary parties, funerals (hopefully not), sporting events, tourist attractions, historical, educational, and other events of interest (like eclipses)!
I also like that the home exchange is sometimes in a local neighborhood and you might get a chance to know the locals and their way of life. They can help give you tips on things to do or places to see, that the travel books and travel sites don’t cover. You might also enjoy the “inside stories” about the local community, and get a sense of family living. I like “blending” in with the locals for a much more enjoyable vacation!
There are many home exchange sites available on the internet. You may search for them easily, and see what suits you best. Anything from a studio apartment to a huge luxury home is available to exchange!

Sounds good. I like the idea of getting deeper into the culture or the area, rather than sanitised in a hotel. The idea of being properly embedded in a neighbourhood appeals to me.
This information is magnificent. I understand and respect your clear-cut points. I am impressed with your writing style and how well you express your thoughts.
